The library of the Società is the most important history library in Liguria and is open to the public on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9.30-12.30, 15.00-19.00. It contains c. 30,000 volumes including 492 journals of which 175 are complete series. Of particular importance are the journals of other regional history societies which are rarely found in other town libraries. Equally important is the large collection of booklets and extracts which, in the new headquarters, are now organized so as to be easily accessible. The library also possesses manuscripts, parchments, rare editions from the Quattro and Cinquecento, prints, collections of newspapers, two nautical maps (of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries) and objects normally found in museums such as two astrolabes, two sun clocks, coins, medals etc. The computerization of the library is currently in progress. |
